Privacy Policy — ScanToPlan

This Privacy Policy describes how Brent’s Big Damn LLC (“we,” “us,” or “our”) handles information in connection with the ScanToPlan mobile application (“the App”), available for iPhone and iPad. We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about our practices.

The short version: ScanToPlan runs entirely on your device. We do not collect, transmit, or have access to any of your data. Your scans and floor plans stay on your iPhone or iPad, and they leave it only when you choose to export or share them yourself.

1. Information We Collect

The App is designed not to collect personal information. ScanToPlan:

Does not require account creation, registration, or sign-up
Does not collect your name, email address, phone number, or any other personal identifier
Does not collect device identifiers, IP addresses, or location data
Makes no network requests of any kind and does not transmit data to our servers — we operate no servers for the App

Note: While the App itself does not make network requests, your device’s operating system or app distribution platform (the Apple App Store) may independently collect certain data related to app installation, purchases, updates, or crash diagnostics. Such collection is governed by Apple’s privacy policy and is outside our control.

Everything you create in the App — projects, scans, floor plans, room names, and dimensions — is stored exclusively on your device. We have no ability to access, view, or retrieve any of it.

2. Data Stored on Your Device

While we do not collect data, the App stores the following locally on your device at your direction:

Projects: The project names you enter, along with creation and modification dates
Floor plans: The generated plan geometry — walls, doors, windows, passageways, room dimensions, and room areas
Room names and dimension labels: Including any names or exact measurements you type in yourself
Scan working data: Intermediate scan data used to build a floor plan
App settings: Your unit preference (imperial or metric) and export preferences
Temporary export files: PDF and DXF files written to a temporary folder while a share sheet is open, and removed when it closes

This data is stored in the App’s private container on your device, isolated from other apps by iOS. It is not transmitted to us, and we have no access to it.

3. Camera and LiDAR Scanner

ScanToPlan requests camera access, which is required for its core function. Scanning uses the camera together with your device’s LiDAR scanner and Apple’s ARKit and RoomPlan frameworks to measure the geometry of the room around you.

The camera feed is processed live and entirely on your device to detect walls, doors, windows, and openings
Camera frames are not recorded as photos or video, are not saved to your photo library or ours, and are not transmitted anywhere
What the App saves from a scan is geometry — the measured shape of the room — not imagery of your space
No facial recognition, biometric identification, or person detection is performed at any point

All scan processing, plan generation, rendering, and export happen on-device. If you deny camera access, scanning cannot function, but you can still open and export previously created floor plans.

Photo library: ScanToPlan does not request access to your photo library and does not read your photos.

Microphone: ScanToPlan does not request microphone access and does not record audio.

4. Location Data

ScanToPlan does not collect your location. The App does not read, store, or transmit GPS coordinates, and no location information is saved in your projects or written into exported files. A device’s compass heading may be used purely to orient a floor plan on screen; any such reading is used on-device in the moment and is never stored or transmitted.

5. iCloud

ScanToPlan includes an optional iCloud sync setting that, when enabled and available on your device, stores your floor plan documents in your own iCloud account so you can reach them from your other Apple devices.

Data synced this way goes to your personal iCloud storage, not to us
It is handled by Apple under Apple’s Privacy Policy and your iCloud settings
We have no access to your iCloud account or its contents
Raw scan data is excluded from sync; only finalized plan data is eligible
The setting is off unless you turn it on, and you can turn it off at any time

Separately, your device’s own iCloud or iTunes backups may include the App’s local data, depending on your device settings. Those backups are controlled by you and governed by Apple’s policies.

When you export a floor plan as a PDF, PNG, JPEG, or DXF file, the file is generated on your device and handed to the standard iOS share sheet. You choose where it goes — Files, Mail, Messages, AirDrop, or another app.

We are not a party to that transfer and never receive the file
Exported files contain the floor plan, its dimensions, the room name you gave it, and a generation timestamp — they contain no location data, no device identifiers, and no personal information about you
Once you share a file with another person, app, or service, it is outside the App’s control and subject to that recipient’s or service’s own privacy practices

7. Third-Party Services

ScanToPlan contains no third-party services, SDKs, or dependencies of any kind. The App:

Includes no third-party libraries — it is built solely on Apple’s own system frameworks (ARKit, RoomPlan, RealityKit, Core Data, PDFKit, and related APIs), all of which run on-device
Displays no advertisements
Integrates with no analytics platforms
Uses no crash reporting or diagnostics service
Connects to no cloud services, backends, or external APIs

8. Analytics and Tracking

We do not track users for analytics, advertising, or behavioral profiling. ScanToPlan:

Contains no analytics or telemetry of any kind
Does not use cookies, pixels, beacons, or fingerprinting
Does not participate in any advertising or tracking networks
Does not collect usage statistics, crash reports, or performance data

We have zero visibility into how, when, or whether you use the App.

Because the App operates entirely on your device and we collect no user data:

No user data is shared with third parties by us
No data is sold to data brokers or advertisers
No data is disclosed to affiliates or business partners
We do not possess user data that could be produced in response to legal requests

Note: Apple may independently collect and share data related to your use of its platform and the App Store. Please refer to Apple’s privacy policy for details.

10. Data Retention and Deletion

All data created by the App resides on your device and is entirely under your control.

Retention: Your projects and floor plans are kept on your device for as long as you choose to keep them. We have no role in retention because we never possess your data.
Deleting a floor plan: You can delete any individual floor plan from a project at any time.
Deleting a project: Deleting a project permanently removes its database records and its files on disk, including all of its scans and floor plans. This cannot be undone.
Reclaiming scan storage: Settings → Manage Storage lets you delete the raw scan data for a project while keeping its finished floor plans.
App uninstallation: Uninstalling the App removes its local data from your device, subject to your device’s operating system and backup settings. If you enabled iCloud sync, remove synced documents through your iCloud settings as well.
Exported files: Files you have already exported or shared live wherever you sent them and must be deleted there.

11. Children’s Privacy

ScanToPlan does not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13 (or the applicable age in your jurisdiction). Since the App does not collect personal information from any user, regardless of age, there is no children’s data at risk.

We comply with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) provisions regarding minors, and similar applicable laws.

If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, you have certain rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and similar laws. These include the right to:

Access personal data we hold about you
Rectify inaccurate personal data
Erase your personal data (“right to be forgotten”)
Restrict processing of your personal data
Port your personal data to another service
Object to processing of your personal data
Withdraw consent to data processing

Because ScanToPlan operates entirely on your device and transmits no user data to us, we do not process personal data on our systems. As a result, we do not hold personal data about you that would be subject to these rights.

All data created in the App is on your device and under your exclusive control. You may access, modify, export, or delete it at any time through the App itself.

Platform controllers: Apple acts as an independent data controller for data it collects through the App Store and iOS (e.g., purchase history, crash diagnostics, iCloud storage). For information about Apple’s data practices, please refer to Apple’s Privacy Policy.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority if you believe your data protection rights have been violated.

13. Your Rights Under CCPA / CPRA

If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA), provides you with specific rights regarding your personal information. These include the right to:

Know what personal information is collected, used, shared, or sold
Delete personal information held by a business
Opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information
Non-discrimination for exercising your privacy rights
Correct inaccurate personal information
Limit use of sensitive personal information

Because the App operates entirely on your device and we collect no personal information, we do not hold personal information about you that would be subject to these rights.

We do not sell personal information.
We do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
We do not collect or process sensitive personal information, including precise geolocation.

14. International Data Transfers

ScanToPlan operates entirely on your device and transmits no user data to our servers. Your data remains on your device and is not transferred internationally by us. Any data processing performed by Apple in connection with app distribution or iCloud is governed by Apple’s privacy policy.

15. Security

We take the security of your data seriously. The App is built so that your data never has to travel:

No network surface: The App makes no network requests, eliminating network-based interception entirely
No third-party code: No external SDKs that could collect or exfiltrate data
OS-level isolation: Data is stored in the App’s private container, which iOS isolates from other apps
Device encryption: Files in the App’s container are protected by iOS Data Protection, which encrypts device storage when you have a passcode, Face ID, or Touch ID enabled — we strongly recommend using one
No credentials to steal: There is no account, password, or access token associated with the App

Because your data lives on your device rather than in our care, the most important protections are your device passcode, your device backups, and your choices about where you share exported files.

16. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by updating the “Last Updated” date at the top of this policy and, where practicable, through an in-app notice.

We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically to stay informed about how we protect your privacy. Your continued use of the App after any changes to this Privacy Policy constitutes your acceptance of those changes.

17. App Store Supplemental Disclosures

Apple App Store (iOS / iPadOS)

In accordance with Apple’s App Store requirements and the App Tracking Transparency framework:

Data Not Collected: ScanToPlan does not collect data from users or transmit data to the developer, as reflected in the App Store privacy nutrition label.
Tracking: The App does not track users across other companies’ apps or websites.
App Tracking Transparency: Not applicable — the App performs no tracking.
Camera: Used on-device for room scanning only; camera data is not collected, stored as imagery, or transmitted.
Location: Not collected.
