calc+ — Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about hiding photos in a calculator vault app.

How does calc+ hide photos on my phone?
calc+ disguises itself as a fully working calculator. When you open the app, you see a normal calculator you can actually use. Entering your secret PIN instead of a number unlocks a private encrypted vault hidden inside the app. There's no vault icon, no separate app — just a calculator that becomes a hidden photo vault when you know the PIN.
Can someone find my hidden photos in calc+?
No. Photos stored in calc+ are encrypted with AES-256-GCM and written to an isolated app container on your device. They don't appear in your phone's photo library, don't show up in backups unless the app itself is backed up, and aren't accessible to other apps. From the outside, calc+ looks and behaves exactly like a regular calculator.
How do I access my secret vault in calc+?
Open calc+ — it launches as a working calculator. Type your vault PIN using the calculator keypad, then tap the equals (=) key. If the PIN matches, the vault unlocks. To anyone watching, it looks like you're doing a calculation.
Does calc+ back up photos to iCloud or Google Drive?
No. calc+ is fully offline and makes zero network requests. Your photos never leave your device. iCloud and Google Drive backups may include the app's encrypted data container, but since all files are encrypted before being written to disk, the contents are unreadable without your PIN.
What happens if I forget my PIN?
Your PIN is never stored or transmitted — it's used to derive an encryption key that unlocks your vault. If you forget your PIN, there is no recovery option. This is by design: no backdoor means no one else can access your vault either. You can set up a Decoy Vault with a secondary PIN to protect yourself under duress.
Does calc+ work without internet?
Yes, completely. calc+ is a fully offline app. It requires no account, no login, no server, and no network connection — ever. All encryption and storage happen locally on your device.
How do I hide photos on iPhone using calc+?
Install calc+ on your iPhone, set your vault PIN during first launch, then open the vault and tap the import button to bring in photos from your iPhone photo library. You can choose to delete the originals from your library after import, leaving no trace in your camera roll. The photos live exclusively inside calc+'s encrypted vault.
Is calc+ safe and secure?
Yes. calc+ uses AES-256-GCM encryption for all stored files, PBKDF2-SHA256 key derivation with 100,000 iterations and a unique salt per vault, and an app-level pepper stored in the device's secure enclave. Files on disk use UUID-based names so no original filenames are exposed. The app also supports Decoy Vaults, intruder photo capture, and screen recording prevention.
How do I hide photos behind a calculator?
Download calc+ — a secret vault app that looks like a calculator. Set your vault PIN during first launch. From then on, open calc+, type your PIN on the calculator keypad, and tap equals to unlock your hidden photo vault. Import photos from your camera roll directly into the vault, then delete the originals. Your photos are now hidden behind the calculator — encrypted, offline, and invisible to anyone who doesn't know your PIN.
